So as you can tell I haven't had a lot to write about. Or is it that I have been pretty busy and just haven't had the time to write or maybe I have just been lazy. Hard telling!
This week pretty much made me realize that spring break needs to come and needs to come quickly. It was such a crazy week at school. The kids are feeling it and for sure Mrs. Pullan is feeling it too. I try and keep my cool and not get frustrated. I try and realize that they are kids and need to socialize. I try and remember that they are all hormonal at this age and are starting to really feel that. I try and think about what it was like to be in sixth grade. All these thoughts help me keep my patience for the most part!
So tell me, why is it that 6th graders don't realize that when Mrs. Pullan has asked them 10 times to sit down and they don't do it that she might get a little frustrated. Or why don't they think about how frustrating it is to repeat directions twenty times? Or why don't they see that if they don't stop talking for 10 seconds that Mrs. Pullan might blow a top? Why is that? Have they no idea how frustrating it can be at times to be a teacher???? Do they have any respect at all for adults??? I am beginning to wonder. So I think back to the above paragraph and try and remember that they are kids.
Spring break come soon, I am so ready!

Well Mrs. Pullan, sounds like you need a break. My rule is you list to the instructions the first time. If I have to repeat them your assignment is doubled. So for example, in keyboarding, if I have to repeat instructions and you are not listening you will have to type each line twice or four times depending on the assignment. Usually only takes a couple of times of a doubled assigment that they stop and listen. I also have a listening assignment that I give to students that don't listen. It is usually a worksheet of some sort if I can't double the assignment. And then if they don't get their extra work done they make it on Fun Friday which I have every other week. And if they don't get it done then - detension. I only do this with junior high.
Oh, btw - maybe they aren't listening b/c you keep referring to yourself as the third person! hee hee
OK! Let me go ahead be honest they aren't listening...they don't respect adults (or most don't), they want a break like you do and only care about that right now. Along with their hormones, boyfriends, girlfriends, and all the other crap of 6th graders. Personaly the few things I remember about 6th grade is a boy, clothes and well basically ME! I know you aren't probably asking for advice so I will go ahead and feel your pain. I get it, I understand it. To some extent I live it (minus a few years). Repeat Repeat Repeat! So tiring. Atleast there is hope at the end, one more week baby! Spring Break for you:) Have a good one.
Four days left! Four days left! THENNNN only 40 days left after we return from spring break!
